Why does my child do that? is designed to help parents, caregivers, and professionals understand children’s behaviour through a developmental and psychological lens. It explores common behaviours, their underlying causes and practical strategies for positive outcomes. The strategies and resources will help you guide young children who have not yet started school.

Using this resource
Why Does My Child Do That? was developed by Robin Treloar, a former manager at Plumtree Children’s Services experienced in working with families of children with developmental delay and disability. It was co-designed with the Plumtree team and parents.
This course was created in response to parents who understood that the early years are an important time to give children the support to thrive and wanted a trusted resource. It is self-paced and easy to complete in your own time.
