Peer workers in ECI organisations workshop
Peer workers are families who have a child with a disability or developmental delay who are trained and paid to work in early childhood intervention organisations.
When peer work is done well, it has the potential to offer unique benefits to families through the sharing of personal experiences and perspectives. It is also complementary to existing family-centred services available to families.
In this workshop you will:
- Learn about the evidence base for peer work
- Understand the value of peer work in ECI for families, the peer worker and ECI organisations
- Undertake a cultural checklist to explore if peer work is an option for your organisation
- Be introduced to practical strategies and tools that will help you to introduce peer workers into your organisation.
