Q. I am so excited about the Now and Next Family Conference as loved it last year.  Where can I read a little about this year’s presenters?

We share your excitement as it is going to be a great day!  You can have a look at the detailed program here.

You can also keep an eye on our Facebook page.

Q. I’ve RSVP’d YES to the Now and Next Family Conference but just wanted to check is there is a cost involved in attending?

The Now and Next Family Conference is proudly a free event.

Q. I have RSVP’d YES to attend but now sadly can’t attend.  What can I do now?

That’s a shame but we totally understand that life is BUSY.  If you could cancel your RSVP in Eventbrite or email Marie Vlahakis marie@plumtree.org.au that would be amazing.

Q. Is there still time to register into the Now and Next Family Conference?

Places are filling fast and we are very close to full capacity. We recommend registering ASAP to avoid disappointment or register your name on the waitlist in case places become available.

Q. I’ve heard about the Now and Next Family Conference through friends but haven’t used Plumtree for any services at this time, can I still attend?

Yes, we would love for you to attend and look forward to meeting you. However, please keep in mind that places are filling fast.

Q. My child is registered for child-minding during the Now and Next Family Conference.  What information should I include for the carers in advance and do I need to pack lunch etc?

We recommend that you prepare a little overview for the carers so that your child can be as settled and happy as possible.  Just as much detail that you would leave with a babysitter would be fine. The childcare area is just beside the venue rooms so your little ones will be close by should you wish to check in on them at any stage during the day.

Please pack lunch, snacks, drink bottle, nappies, change of clothes etc so that your child has everything that they need and you can enjoy your time at the conference safe in the knowledge that your little ones will be well looked after in your absence. Please make sure to label all of your child’s belonging.

Q. I’m leaving my child in child-minding but I’m very nervous, can you please put my mind at ease?

We totally understand! The childcare will be staffed by Plumtree’s own pre-school staff who are all warm, passionate and trained team members.  The team have planned some great activities for the children so that it can be a great day for the whole family. There will be ample opportunity for you to pop in and check on your child but from past experiences, we have found that the children have a wonderful time which is a win-win.

Q. I booked in with the free childcare but now don’t need it – how do I cancel?

If you could email Marie Vlahakis marie@plumtree.org.au asap that would be AMAZING as there is a waitlist for childcare so we can offer your place to another family on the list.

Q. I’m not much of a morning person and don’t function well without my caffeine hit.  Will, there be coffee on-site or could you recommend a café nearby that I could swing by to grab my mandatory latte?

There will be coffee and tea on offer throughout the day (and breakfast and lunch too for that matter).  If you are after something a bit special there are some great cafes in the surrounding neighbourhood that you could stop off at en-route.  West Juliet and Wolf and Bee are nearby options but just bear in mind a bit of a walk away from the venue.

Q. Will there be a break for lunch? Should I bring a packed lunch or is the event fully catered?

There will be an hour lunch and an afternoon tea break as well. The event is fully catered and it will accommodate dietary requirements. However, feel free to bring your own lunch and snacks if you’d prefer.

Q. Will the Conference be accessible to people with disability?

The venue will have accessible ramps and an accessible toilet. The conference will also include accommodation to make it accessible for adults with Autism. Please get in touch with Marie  marie@plumtree.org.au ASAP if you would like to further discuss your accessibility requirements.

Q. I’ve seen that the conference is fragrance-free. What does that mean?

Many of our delegates and speakers are triggered by strong fragrances. In order to make everyone comfortable, we ask that you don’t wear perfume or aftershave on the day.

Your usual low-fragrance antiperspirant or deodorant is fine. Thank you for playing your part in making our conference accessible to all.

Q. I am a bit nervous about attending as am a new parent navigating my child’s disability.  Is there someone I could chat to about what to expect from the conference?

Absolutely! One of our peer team would be more than happy to have a chat with you about what you can expect from the day. We were all new to this ourselves at one stage and understand that it can be a bit daunting, but you are in great company as the Plumtree community is super welcoming. Drop Marie Vlahakis an email marie@plumtree.org.au and she will give you a call before the day.

Q. I’m not familiar with the venue – can you tell me the best way to get there so I can decide if I drive or take public transport.

St Peter’s Public School is located in Sydney’s inner west. There’s limited parking at the venue; however, it shouldn’t be too much of an issue to find parking in the surrounding streets. Please make sure to check the hourly limits and parking on-site entry point.

If coming by train, St Peters Station is an easy 10 minutes walk away or Sydenham 20 minutes walk. If coming by bus, you can plan your route here: https://transportnsw.info/trip#/

FYI- Due to WestConnex work underway in the area we recommend checking for updated road closures and transport disruptions on the day.

Q. Help!  I can’t find where I wrote down the details of the conference and what time it starts – can you please help to re-confirm
