IIDL Match – Family Leadership
Why build family leadership?
August 16, 2022 @ 10:00 am – 11:30 am AEST

Begin early to set a positive direction for your child and family
As parents, we want the best for our children, but when a young child has a developmental delay or disability, how do we get back to what’s important to our family? Developing new ways to think about a positive future for our child and family starts at home as we hold on to the possibility, not the struggle.
Join us for session one of four to discuss what family leadership means in the context of young children with developmental delays or disabilities.
Together we will discuss
- The meaning of family leadership
- Family leadership as a journey of development starting in the early years
- Building our child’s independence
- How we as families can identify what’s important to us and develop a plan to achieve this
IIDL Match
There are four sessions in this IIDL match.
Session one (this match) focuses on families whose children are birth to 8 years old, along with professionals working to build family leadership. However, families whose children are older are welcome to participate.
Sessions two and three will focus on sharing how organizations invest in family leadership and hearing how families get the good things in life for their family member who has disability. In session four will bring our learnings together.
