About the program

TalkAbility — The Hanen Program® for Parents of Autistic Children Who Are Speaking in Sentences and Having Conversations

The TalkAbility™ program is designed for parents of autistic children ages 4-8 who are speaking in sentences and having conversations. The program makes the most of your child’s unique strengths and preferences, as well as their natural day-to-day activities, to help them find more joy and connection in their interactions and to foster mutual understanding between your child and the important people in their life.

Topics of this program include:
– How your child currently engages in conversation
– Next steps to help your child have more balanced, back-and-forth conversations
– Encouraging your child to pay attention to non-verbal social messages
– Helping your child understand the meaning behind words
– Helping your child tell stories, play imaginatively and make friends

Orientation Session

During this session you will learn:

  • About the Hanen Talkability program
  • How the online program will be scheduled
  • The starting dates and costs

It will also provide you with an opportunity to ask questions.

This program is for

Parents, carers and family members of Autistic children aged 4-8 years who are speaking in sentences and having conversations.

When

Tuesday 6 February7.30pm to 9.00pm AEDT/NSW Time

The program will run in Term 1 and Term 2 on Tuesday nights 7.30pm to 10pm AEDT/NSW time.

Where

This event is held online using Zoom. Instructions will be emailed to you prior to the event.
If you have accessibility needs, please advise during registration.

Resources

To participate in this program, parents and carers must purchase an eBook manual from Amazon.com.au independently. The manual costs approximately $59 and you will receive a link to it once the program is confirmed.
