Online training for more inclusive early childhood education services

Plumtree Children’s Services is developing an online course for early childhood educators and teachers of all levels to better support children with disability or developmental delay and their families.

Inclusion benefits everybody at early childhood education services, which include preschool, child care and day care centres. It enriches the child’s development, the quality of the service and the community. Children of all abilities learn to celebrate each other’s successes, transcend barriers, and set a strong social and emotional foundation for the future. The course can give educators new skills that help achieve great outcomes.

The project is guided by an advisory group and draws on the expertise of Plumtree’s early childhood teachers, therapists and parent peer workers. Funding is provided by the NSW Department of Education’s Start Strong Pathways program.

Survey and expression of interest for co-design

We are conducting surveys with early childhood education services to ensure the course meets their needs and provides engaging content for positive change.

Applications are also open for early childhood education services to participate in this rewarding project, either in co-design or piloting the course. Please contact Kayleen for more information kayleen.doyle@plumtree.org.au
