When we talk about “behaviour” in the context of support for children, it is usually related to behaviours that are challenging to manage and interfere with learning and participation in everyday activities. Behaviour specialists work with you and other adults in your child’s life to understand these behaviours and improve your child’s social and emotional skills. Sessions can be held at home, in education settings, in the community, or at our Marrickville centre. We work together on topics such as understanding what your child is communicating through their behaviour, guiding positive interactions and developing emotional regulation.
Through a tailored program, our child behaviour specialists will develop strategies and resources for you and other adults that encourage your child to manage their emotions, communicate and thrive in daily routines and activities.
Most of these will focus on modifications to the environment or ways that others interact with your child to encourage positive behaviour and independence. Your behaviour specialist will consider your child’s interests and strengths to achieve positive outcomes.
