Develop essential skills for school with Plumtree’s fun and practical school readiness program.

This dynamic program is thoughtfully designed to help your child transition confidently into Kindergarten. Led by an experienced occupational therapist and early childhood teacher, each engaging session will help your child build the essential skills needed for a successful start to school.

Program outcomes:

  • Listening and speaking: Building communication skills.
    Following instructions and answering questions: Enhancing comprehension and response.
    Pre-literacy skills: Developing rhyming and letter-sound awareness.
    Fine motor skills: Improving pencil grip, drawing, writing, and cutting.
    Problem-solving and independence: Encouraging self-reliance and critical thinking.
    Social skills: Making friends, initiating conversations, turn-taking, and managing emotions.
    Attention and concentration: Increasing focus during tasks.
    Family involvement: We’ll provide you with suggestions and ideas to continue supporting your child’s skill development at home.

This program is for

Children with disabilities or developmental concerns who will be starting mainstream Kindergarten in 2025.

When

Four daily sessions, 1.5 hours each
Monday, 30 September: 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM
Tuesday, 1 October: 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM
Wednesday, 2 October: 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM
Thursday, 3 October: 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM

Session structure: Each 1.5-hour session includes face-to-face time with the children, followed by a brief feedback session with parents. During this time, we’ll provide resources, activities, and strategies to practice at home. Sessions will conclude by 11:00 AM.

Cost

Total Price: $515 (includes non face-to-face preparation time)
Payment options: NDIS funding or private payment.
Full payment is required, and missed sessions cannot be refunded. The cancellation policy aligns with the service agreement.

RSVP

by Sunday, 29 September.
To ensure the group’s success, we require 72 hours’ notice for cancellations to offer places to waiting families. Groups are subject to cancellation if fewer than four children RSVP.
If the program is full, please express your interest, and a staff member will contact you if a spot becomes available.

Your facilitators

Your child will be supported by Isa, an early childhood teacher, and Niki, an occupational therapist.

Parent involvement

Parents must stay on-site for the duration of each session. A waiting room will be available to minimize noise and distractions. You’re invited to join us for the first 20 minutes on the first day to help your child adjust.

Weather

This program is held indoors and will proceed regardless of the weather.
