The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
Update for Families at Plumtree
Start date for NDIS
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will roll out from July 2017 in Sydney’s Inner West and South East areas. It has been trialled and developed in different places in the past two years, so that the final scheme will best support the needs of people with disabilities. Plumtree will be an NDIS provider.
Your family’s transition to the NDIS
Changes are coming, but parents working with Plumtree can rest assured. All families receiving services from Plumtree, or other organisations funded by Ageing Disability and Home Care, will automatically have their information forwarded to the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). There is no need for you to contact the NDIA; families will be contacted about their transition by representatives after July 2017.
You can start getting ready for the new system
Plumtree has been holding regular workshops that inform parents about the NDIS and invite guests participating in the scheme to share their experiences.
We will provide more news about the NDIS regularly below.
We are here to help
We understand that a major transition such as the NDIS can bring uncertainty and concerns. Our message to families: regardless of how the NDIS affects your family, Plumtree will continue to inform, support and help you.
In December 2015, 2016 and April 2017 Plumtree will hand over the details of all children receiving a services or on our wait list to the NDIA, as required by law. If you are still concerned and would like to check whether Plumtree has forwarded your child’s information to the NDIA, please email Elif Erdogan (email@example.com) for confirmation. Please include “NDIS info confirmation” in the subject line.
We welcome all questions about the NDIS so please feel free to talk with your key worker or come along to speak with me at one of the above workshops. You can also see www.raisingchildren.net.au or www.ndis.gov.au and our NDIS Updates here.
