Values and Culture
We believe that every child with a disability or developmental delay has a right to participate in family and community life. Our culture is truly supportive, based on integrity, respect, flexibility and genuine caring for each other, our communities and the work we do in partnership with families.
When families come to Plumtree they often tell us that they feel part of a broader community. They feel informed, connected and cared for. We value the cultural and linguistic diversity of our community and strive to make Plumtree open to all. Our staff speak over 10 languages and we work with interpreters, bilingual workers and community groups to ensure all our families feel welcomed.
We acknowledge and respect the history and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their right to cultural identities. Plumtree reaches out to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, children and communities.
We create relationships and networks between communities for families, peer organisations and supporters. At the heart of every community is family and we engage with the whole family including siblings and fathers to make a truly lasting difference to the lives of children
We have four core values which underpin all our work.
